JOEY WHO ?

One of the few perks when the head of the family is on the job hunt is the different places for interview.

For today our family’s destination is Bonifacio Global City. My husband Ben has a 2:00PM interview with the Head of Recruitment for a certain bank.

It’s not a habit for my daughter Benz & I to tag along, for one, we don’t know how long the interview is gonna be, but today, today is an exception.

The bank was situated in a cozy high rise building. On it’s ground floor was joyfully an array of different “nice” restaurants. Not the usual fast  food picks of McDonalds & Jollibee. This time the choices were a posh coffee shop and JOEY PEPPERONI. I asked Benz which one she prefers, she immediately said “Pizza”.
We said our “good lucks” and “God Bless” and proceeded to Joey Pepperoni. Upon entering, since it was way beyond lunch time, and too early for meryenda, I notice that besides the single male occupying a far end table, there was just us. Benz without delay, happily received the menu from the  nice lady who welcomed us in.

Barely seated, she started ordering. I myself was still looking around the posters of “today’s specials” when the waitress asked me for my share of order. So I asked, “what did my daughter order?” Benz ordered the specialty of  the house - a pepperoni pizza, some chicken and fries plus bottomless ice tea. “It’s good to share” said the waitress. So, it seems that I am not ordering any food after all LOL.

To date, Benz is just 7 years old, but even when she was just 5, she demands to order her food herself whenever we are eating out. We would let her order what she wants and just confirm with the food server that it’s ok. This is the first time that she ordered for both of us. I feel old .

She loved the ham and pineapple combination in pizza ever since she was a toddler, this is the first time she ordered pepperoni. Maybe because it looks good, I don’t really know but I was a bit worried that she wouldn’t eat what she ordered, this wouldn’t be the 1st time. To my amazement, she loved it. The crust was perfect, crunchy, thin and not oily. The toppings were hefty, cheese and pepperoni both. But the chicken, well let’s just say that the chicken fingers were a bit hard to chew. So I ended up eating the “rejects”, as always. The home made fries were ok, so she ate those too.

Bottomless ice tea, bad bad bad said the old ones. Kids shouldn’t be drinking tea, specially 7 year olds. But today we’ll make another exception. The ice tea was also nice, it’s not the powdery instant type, it was I think their attempt of nestea with a twist haha . Bottomless drink is not an excess for Benz, she can really drink !

My husband Ben’s interview went for 3 hours, plus waiting time. So it gave us just enough for dessert. Lo and behold, the baby girl ordered brownies. It was fabulous! It was a big block of warm brownie, with a colossal scoop of vanilla ice cream on a hot plate. Delicious till the last crumb!

All in all the outing was a food success but not the interview. As it turned out the Interviewer was a jerk hahaha . The 4 hours waiting cost us around Php800.00. The food is costly, but it was scrumptious. A happy day for the tummy !
